Crawley vs Colchester Match Preview
Colchester United travel to Crawley for their League Cup clash on Tuesday evening looking to take revenge for a 2-1 loss suffered at this ground earlier in October, where Reece Grego-Cox and Mason Enigbokan-Bloomfield found the net and completed a second-half comeback in League Two.
The U’s obviously struggled to bounce back to the winning ways and they only did it on Saturday, beating Newport (3-1) in front of the home crowd. They’ve seen three losses and a draw in four games beforehand and John McGreal now surely hopes his men have rediscovered their fine form in the final third.
Still, the visitors have a lot to prove and they haven’t really been able to do so on the road lately. Crawley will now hope to capitalize on such a spell and snatch a ticket to the Quarter-finals here despite a very unpredictable run of their own – where the win over Colchester comes as their only one in seven outings now.
Reds struggled to really keep it together at the back and this has proven costly as they earned just one point in three league outings since. They’ve been beaten by Bradford (2-1) and Swindon (0-4), while only holding Newport to a 1-1 draw along the way. League Cup success comes as a scarce pick-me-up for Gabriele Cioffi’s men and they’ll now be desperate to keep hold of it.
We don’t see them doing so now and we’ll now stick our necks out for Colchester to leave the People’s Pension Stadium unbeaten, backing a Draw at 8/5 with Paddy Power and hoping for another very narrow head-to-head contest in the making.
We do feel we’re in for goals once again, though, and we thus hope to see them on both ends as we also back a Yes on Both teams to score at 4/5 with William Hill. We’ve seen both scoring and conceding on the regular, which serves as further evidence we should be in for an exciting occasion.
