Coventry vs AFC Wimbledon Match Preview
Coventry have been in fine form early in the new campaign and their League Cup loss at Watford only interrupted their lengthy unbeaten streak, where they also bagged six wins and four draws in 11 outings across competitions. They now host AFC Wimbledon for their Matchday 9 looking to build on their top spot, with three sides breathing down their necks.
Sky Blues have returned to the streak with a 3-3 draw at Oxford, then managed EFL Trophy win over Walsall (on penalties after a goalless draw) and League One points against Blackpool (3-2). Mark Robins’ men now come into the match with a goalless draw against Burton behind them, but it’s hard to say they can boast real consistency in such defensive performances.
AFC Wimbledon sit in the bottom end of the table and have just three points to their name after eight games played. They held Shrewsbury to a 1-1 draw on Saturday and regularly show off as a tough nut to crack there, but their defensive displays on the road will be more worrying for Wally Downes.
Indeed, Dons slip up once too often and they’ve conceded a total of nine goals on four trips, which made it impossible to capitalize despite finding the net on all of the occasions. The lack of points away from home could prove costly and they’ll be desperate to pick it up.
However, we don’t see them doing so in Coventry and we’ll now rather back the home side to another exciting win at St Andrew’s, going for a Home win and a Yes on Both teams to score at an eye-catching 13/5 with Paddy Power.
We have seen such clashes on both sides lately and this would be nothing but more of the same. We thus also feel we’re in for a high-scoring game and we’ll back Over 2.5 Goals FT at 9/10 with Unibet, which feels like a great approach to the fixture by itself at this point.
