Copenhagen vs Celtic Match Preview
Celtic travel to Denmark for their Europa League clash at Copenhagen in a great mood and on the back of a nine-match winning streak, kicking off the New Year strongly and keeping it up as they top the Scottish Premiership table with a ten-point gap to 2nd placed Rangers at this point.
Bhoys beat Hearts (5-0) and Aberdeen (1-2) last week and scored seven goals along the way, making it a perfect intro for the clash at Telia Parken. They bagged two or more goals on all of their last nine trips too and Neil Lennon certainly has ground he’ll want to build on here.
Copenhagen have seen more troubles picking it up ahead of the return to competitive games and they saw Atlantic Cup losses to Norrkoping (on penalties after a goalless draw) and AGF (0-1). They saw Esbjerg (1-0) snatch all three Superliga points on Friday and bouncing now will be crucial.
Indeed, they have proven themselves a very tough nut to crack in front of the home fans and suffered just one loss since August and Champions League Qualifiers. Byens Hold could still have trouble earning an advantage ahead of the trip to Glasgow and we don’t feel they have what it takes to make it happen.
Still, we expect a lot to be played for in the second leg and with that in mind, we’re sticking our necks out for a Draw here – which comes at 9/4 with bet365 and looks like more than just a lively longshot at this point.
We do expect goals and we are hoping to see them on both ends. Both sides will want to employ an attacking approach despite high stakes involved and we will now back a Yes on Both teams to score at 10/11 with William Hill.
