Columbus Crew vs LA Galaxy Match Preview
LA Galaxy have failed to cause an upset at New York RB (3-2) despite completing a first-half comeback, as they saw their great seven-match unbeaten streak ended in a thriller contest at Red Bull Arena. They now travel to Columbus hoping to bounce back to it quickly and impress at MAPFRE Stadium.
Indeed, Galaxy have bagged six wins and a single draw (0-0 at Minnesota United), regularly scoring numbers of goals and primarily led by in-form Zlatan Ibrahimovic as they beat Minnesota (3-2 at home), Portland Timbers (2-1), Vancouver Whitecaps (0-2), Philadelphia Union (2-0), Houston Dynamo (2-1), and Real Salt Lake (2-1) since mid-March.
Columbus Crew have seen quite a contrasting spell of form lately and while they still sit in the Eastern Conference top 7, a five-match losing streak saw them drop seven points behind pace-setters Philadelphia Union – not seeing a win in over a month.
Crew have struggled to create and convert chances and late own goal from Bill Hamid in a 3-1 loss at DC United was only the second to their name in those five outings. They’ve been tougher to beat at home ground but this hardly means anything as Caleb Porter’s men saw Timbers (1-3) and DC United (0-1) snatch points here along the way too.
We will now stick with LA Galaxy to capitalize on such woes too and going for a Double Chance – Draw or Away win feels like great value at 17/20 with bet365 – despite not having snatched a win at MAPFRE Stadium since 2011.
We do feel they’ll have to base such a success on a tough defensive approach before anything, though, and with that in mind we’re now also sticking our necks out for a low-scoring contest with Under 2.5 Goals FT at 6/5 with bet365.
