Colorado Rapids vs Portland Timbers Match Preview
Colorado Rapids host Portland Timbers for their MLS clash in great spirits after beating LA Galaxy (1-3) in their pre-season friendly and connecting their third win in a row, surely looking to build on it early in the new campaign and bounce back from a disappointing finish last term.
Rapids have been tougher to beat at this ground through most of the last season and building on such a sentiment will be essential for Anthony Hudson as his men want more, getting reinforcements up front in Kei Kamara, Diego Rubio, and hoping for an immediate impact.
Portland Timbers have, on the other hand, struggled for consistency and while they’ve made it far, it has proven costly in the MLS Cup Final – with a comfortable 2-0 loss in Atlanta. They will want to build on such team spirits, though, and we expect them very motivated at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
Timbers returned to the winning ways after a two-match winless streak as they beat Real Salt Lake (3-0) on Sunday, bouncing back to a great goalscoring spell of form and now hoping for more of the same as Victor Arboleda leads an in-form attacking line.
We do feel we’re in for a strong challenge from the visitors but we don’t feel they’ll snatch points as we stick our necks out for a Home win at 6/4 with William Hill – hoping for a strong start from the Rapids on Saturday evening.
With hope we’re in for an exciting contest and that Timbers will force them into it, we’re now also going for a high-scoring match with Over 2.5 Goals FT at 4/5 with bet365. We’ve seen both sides regularly enjoy such clashes and this feels like another such occasion at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in the making.
