Chikhura Sachkhere vs Aberdeen Predictions

Chikhura Sachkhere have risen up the leagues in Georgia in the last few seasons. Although they’re yet to win their first top tier title, the Imereti-based outfit have finished in the top five in each of the last six campaigns since winning promotion to what is now the Erovnuli Liga and they even managed to win the domestic cup competition, Sakartvelos Tasi for the first time in the 2017 campaign.

Those high finishes have seen Chikhura competing in the Europa League plenty of times recently, but only once have they managed to make it as far as the Third Round of qualifying. After beating Luxembourg outfit Fola Esch by a 4-2 aggregate scoreline in the last round, can Samson Pruidze’s side cause a shock by earning a home win in this tie on Thursday evening at odds of 19/5 with Coral.

Aberdeen have a proud history in European football, having previously won both the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. Recent history has not been quite as impressive though, with the 2007/2008 campaign being the last time the Dons managed to make it as far as the group stages in European competition and they’ve been beaten in qualifying by the likes of Kairat, NK Maribor and Apollon Limassol in the last few seasons.

Derek McInnes will be hoping to chase down the Old Firm in the Scottish Premiership this season and has made a handful of new signings including the likes of Ryan Hedges, James Wilson and Craig Bryson. Some of these players did feature in the last round as the Reds overcome Finnish outfit RoPS by a 4-2 aggregate scoreline, winning 2-1 both home and away. They’re favourites to pick up another win here at 17/20 with Unibet.

We’re backing the Scottish side to grab that win away from home here but we don’t anticipate a clean sheet. The Dons conceded in both legs of their victory against RoPS, while Chikhura bagged four times in their aggregate win over Fola Esch in the first round of qualifying. With the home advantage we think the Georgians will get on the scoresheet in this one but we still think the visitors will get the win at 15/4 with Bet365.

Sam Cosgrove was the man to step up and shoulder the goalscoring burden for Aberdeen last season following the sale of Adam Rooney. The 22 year old racked up 21 goals in all competitions for the Dons last term and he’s made a fine start to the current campaign too by scoring in both legs of that win over RoPS in the last round.
