West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini is clinging to his job by the skin of his teeth – and Chelsea away would surely not be his choice as the team’s next fixture.

Pellegrini, who led Manchester City to the Premier League title in 2014, has not been able to turn the Hammers into top-six challengers during his one-and-a-third seasons at the helm, indeed they will go into this match positioned immediately above the relegation zone.

Things have got so bad, after a winless run of eight league and cup games, that David Moyes is being strongly linked with a return to the London Stadium!

After three consecutive defeats, with three goals conceded in each, Pellegrini desperately needs an improved performance, which you have to think will be easier to achieve than a positive result at Stamford Bridge.

That is because Chelsea are going the right way under Frank Lampard and they even had more possession than Manchester City, which is extremely rare for the reigning champions, when edged out 2-1 at the Etihad last weekend.

If the West Ham players want to keep Pellegrini at the club they need to show it on this trip across London and we are backing them to score what would only be a consolation goal – but whether that will be enough to save the Chilean remains to be seen.
