Chelsea vs West Ham Match Preview

Chelsea find themselves embroiled in a battle for a top four finish this season. After starting out like potential title challengers with a ten game unbeaten streak, it seemed like Maurizio Sarri had made the perfect start to life in England. Since then however, form dropped off dramatically and the club found themselves losing out in the EFL Cup Final, being dumped out of the FA Cup by Manchester United and on the receiving end of criticism from the Stamford Bridge fanbase.

A 2-0 victory over rivals Tottenham Hotspur in February appears to have got the Blues back on track though and they come into another London derby on Monday night on the back of a run of just one defeat in their last eight matches in all competitions. That form has taken them to within one place of the top four spots going into the weekend behind Arsenal on goal difference alone so they’ll be keen to secure three points here at 1/3 with Bet365.

West Ham United are one of a cluster of teams chasing a position in next year’s Europa League. Wolverhampton Wanderers took pole position in the race in midweek with an impressive home win over Manchester United but still only five points separates them in seventh place from the Hammers who currently occupy 11th place in the table with all five of those teams have just six games left to play in the Premier League this season.

Although the Hammers have now fully settled into life at the London Stadium and have become much more difficult to beat in front of their own supporters than they were when they first moved into their new home, it’s on the road where they have struggled of late. Manuel Pellegrini’s men have lost six and drawn one of their last seven games on the road in all competitions which is why the away win seems unlikely here at 9/1 with William Hill.
