Chelsea vs Newcastle United Match Preview

Newcastle will have spent the international break revelling in their victory over Manchester United, but are likely to be brought back down to earth when they visit Chelsea.

The Magpies enjoyed a famous 1-0 win two weeks ago with a cracking goal on his Premier League debut from Matty Longstaff, who excelled in midfield alongside his brother Sean.

However, it will be a much more difficult task for Steve Bruce’s side to get anything at Stamford Bridge against a Chelsea side who are now beginning to deliver on their potential under manager Frank Lampard.

After a hit and miss start to the season, the Blues have now won four games in a row in all competitions and scored 15 goals in the process with young duo Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount now making their mark for England as well as their club.

Up to fifth in the table, Lampard will not want his team to dip lower than that position for the rest of the campaign and Chelsea can only improve as their youthful line-up gains experience.

We do not see this being a rout, however. Newcastle have saved their best performances and results for when facing the top clubs this term, also winning away to Tottenham, and could make Chelsea work hard for a fifth straight victory.
