Chelsea vs Malmo Match Preview
Chelsea host Malmo for the return match of their Europa League clash just days after doing the same for Manchester United in FA Cup on Monday, looking to build on the 1-2 win earned in Sweden and make their way to the 8th Finals over the Swedish rivals.
Blues have struggled for consistency with some very disappointing trips but been very confident in front of the home fans, coming into the busy week with five consecutive wins earned here since early January – beating Nottingham (2-0), Newcastle (2-1), Tottenham (2-1), Sheffield Wednesday (3-0), and Huddersfield Town (5-0).
A late goal from Anders Christiansen kept the visitors’ hopes alive but we have seen them largely struggle for consistency and the narrow win over Degerfors (3-2) in Svenska Cupen hardly feels like a great boost to their confidence either.
Malmo have struggled to score numbers of goals on the regular and this has been costly for their consistency too. Uwe Rosler will now want to shock Stamford Bridge but it’s hard to make a case for them to cause an upset even after a tough challenge seen last week, as Chelsea look desperate for pick-me-ups lately.
We will back the Blues to secure their ticket to the next round with confidence and we’ll go for a Home win to Nil, which comes at 4/5 with bet365 and looks a great approach to the fixture at this point.
However, we don’t feel they’re in for an easy task and we now hope for another narrow occasion as we also stick our necks out for a low-scoring contest on Thursday and Under 2.5 Goals FT at 7/5 with Paddy Power. We rarely see Malmo conceding many goals on the road and we now hope for more of the same here.
