Chelsea are still searching for their first home win this term and they host Grimsby hoping the contest will prove the best opportunity to make it happen so far, looking to put disappointing losses to Valencia (0-1 in Champions League) and Liverpool (1-2) behind them on Wednesday already.

Blues have seen a four-match unbeaten streak beforehand, where they bagged two wins and two draws, and Frank Lampard will surely want to bounce to such a streak now. They’ve been scoring goals and Tammy Abraham should lead the line once again, after netting eight goals in three games ahead of the last week’s mishaps.

Grimsby travel for what could prove the game of their season on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Macclesfield Town, where a single goal from Ethan Robson early in the second half made all the difference. They have struggled to impress on the road and this will be all the more worrying ahead of the trip to London.

Mariners have seen a 2-2 thriller at Oldham Athletic and the narrow 1-0 loss to Salford City since the break as well, which did make it very important to bounce back ahead of the League Cup clash at Stamford Bridge. However, it’s highly questionable if that will be enough for anything good on the day.

We feel Chelsea will now put on a solid display and secure their ticket to the next round with confidence, as we go for a Home win to Nil at 8/13 with bet365. We don’t see the visitors boasting the same sort of firepower and we feel this will prove costly.
