Chelsea vs Arsenal Match Preview

Chelsea’s first season under Maurizio Sarri has been a real rollercoaster. After a blistering start, the Blues looked like potential title challengers but instead they fell well behind Manchester City and Liverpool in the race for top spot over the course of the campaign, although they still managed to secure third place in the table and they have also reached two finals, the EFL Cup against Manchester City and this Europa League final against Arsenal.

The Italian boss will now have to cope with a transfer ban as he looks to continue to build the side, making the job of chasing down Liverpool and City next season even more difficult but for now he will be focused on winning his first trophy as manager at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have overcome the likes of Slavia Prague, Eintracht Frankfurt and Dynamo Kiev to reach the final, can they now secure the trophy with a win at 13/10 with William Hill.

Arsenal will have been hoping that the hiring of Unai Emery following Arsene Wenger’s departure last summer would be able to inspire them to a top four finish in the Premier League this season, but they fell just short in finishing fifth behind London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham. Champions League qualification can still be secured though should the Gunners manage to overcome the Blues in Baku on May 29th.

It’s not exactly been plain-sailing for Emery’s side in the competition this season though and they’ve had to come behind to qualify after disappointing away defeats in the first leg of ties versus BATE Borisov and Stade Rennais. The Spanish boss does have a fantastic record in this competition though, having lifted the trophy on no fewer than three occasions with former club Sevilla. Can he lift it for a fourth time with a win here at 21/10 with PaddyPower?

We expect the Blues’ superior quality to shine through here. Although Arsenal have progressed slowly this season, there’s still a feeling that they struggle away from the comfort of their own stadium, whereas Chelsea have swept all before them in Europe this term, winning 12 and drawing just two of their fourteen games in this competition. It won’t be easy, but we’re backing the Blues to grind out a one goal victory at odds of 3/1 with Bet365.

With rumours swirling about his future, this may be the last fixture in which we see Belgian maestro Eden Hazard in a Chelsea shirt. The 28 year old may be set to join Real Madrid during the summer transfer window but if so he will be desperate to do so on a high with a trophy. Having racked up 19 goals in all competitions, the former Lille man is priced at 7/4 with PaddyPower to get his 20th goal of the campaign in the final.
