Charlton vs West Brom Match Preview
Charlton have struggled defensively and saw it costly as they sit just outside the relegation zone, hosting West Brom for their FA Cup clash on Sunday with narrow losses at Derby (2-1) and Swansea (1-0) behind them. They’ve been scoring goals on the regular lately but still saw no consistency, which will be just as worrying.
Indeed, Addicks bagged eight goals in their last five outings but still only beat Bristol City (3-2) along the way, seeing thriller draws against Hull (2-2) and QPR (2-2) beforehand. They will now need more and while Cup success would be a great boost to their confidence, Lee Bowyer’s men have a lot to prove as well.
West Brom haven’t been at their best lately either and have managed just three points in four games, now sitting behind pace-setters Leeds for their goal difference. Brentford (1-1), Middlesbrough (1-2), and Leeds (1-1) all snatched points at the Hawthorns while a last-minute equalizer denied them points at Barnsley (1-1) as well.
Baggies have thus seen defensive slip-ups and Slaven Bilic will have a lot on his mind ahead of the Sunday’s trip, seeing Charlton (2-2) snatch a point in West Bromwich with a late equalizer back in October as well. We feel their confidence could be shaken at this point and this could be a chance for the home side to make an impact.
We will thus stick with Charlton to move past their woes and at least take this one into a replay match, going for a Double Chance – Home win or Draw at 23/20 with BetVictor which feels like value seeing Baggies struggled to really impress lately.
We should still be in for thrills and we expect goals on both ends, with both sides scoring and conceding on the regular lately. Going for a Yes on Both teams to score has now been rated a solid approach to the fixture by many in the know and it can be backed at 8/11 with William Hill.
