Charlton vs Cardiff Match Preview
Charlton lost 2-1 at Millwall in their last fixture to suffer a third defeat in their last four which is how long they have gone without a victory. It has been a mixed start to the season for Athletic with six victories, four draws and six defeats.
At the Valley, the Addicks have done quite well winning four of their seven with the other three ending in defeat. Their home defence is strong have conceded only six times with only three sides (Nottingham Forest, Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday) having a better record.
Cardiff are about to embark under a new regime as Neil Warnock stood down before the international break and former Millwall manager Neil Harris took over. He inherits a side 14th in the table who score plenty (23) but are letting too many in (also 23).
Away from the Cardiff City Stadium, the Bluebirds have struggled failing to win any of their eight games though have finished all-square. Only Luton (18) have conceded more than the 16 the Welsh side have let in on the road.
This looks a tough game to call with no value in winless Cardiff as the favourites even with a new manager in the dugout. Charlton are a decent home side but a recent slump in form means we would not want to be siding with them either.
In a tricky looking fixture the best value can be found in the player markets and taking a couple of anytime scorer options. For the hosts, Jonathan Leko played by the front-line last time out and as such the price looks a little high on a play who will be in attacking areas. One of the first things a new manager can do is get his side working on set-pieces and Aden Flint looks a natural target for these and he looks an anytime goalscorer option.
