Charlton have ended the season in terrific form and are in great shape to have a crack at promotion to the Championship in the League One play-off final at Wembley.

The Addicks have lost only twice in 2019 and won eight of their last nine matches, the latest being a 2-1 success in the first leg of this semi-final away to Doncaster on Sunday.

Lee Bowyer’s side were two goals ahead at half-time through Lyle Taylor and Joe Aribo but Doncaster, who created plenty of chances only for their shooting to be wayward, gave themselves hope for the return game when Matty Blair pulled one back near the end.

Nevertheless, Charlton, who lost in the semi-finals last term to eventual runners-up Shrewsbury, will be feeling confident of going one better this time as they only need a draw at home to book a Wembley date against Sunderland or Portsmouth.

They have been defensively very solid at home this season, winning their last six home games by a 16-3 aggregate, while Doncaster’s away results since the turn of the year have been distinctly mediocre.

It is difficult to make any sort of case for Donny turning this tie around and everything points to another Charlton win that would make them the form horse for the final.
