Celtic vs Kilmarnock Match Preview
Celtic host Kilmarnock for their Matchday 28 clash just days after being held to a 1-1 Europa League draw in Copenhagen and while they saw a nine-match winning streak ended, Neil Lennon’s men have things to be happy about and will want another pick-me-up ahead of the 2nd leg in front of the home fans.
Bhoys have been quite convincing in domestic competitions and this has been very obvious at Celtic Park, where they outclassed Ross County (3-0) and Hearts (5-0) in 2020 – netting eight goals and keeping clean sheets on both occasions. They have a ten-point gap at the top of the table but will be desperate to build on it, which promises them in a good mood.
Kilmarnock have, on the other hand, seen narrow yet very disappointing losses to Hibernian (1-2) and Aberdeen (3-4) over the past seven days which saw them fail to make the top 6 cut in Premiership and out of FA Cup, respectively. They thus saw a four-match unbeaten streak ended and bouncing to it will be very tough in Glasgow.
Killie have been scoring goals lately but it’s far from being said they can boast consistency on the road. They failed to find the net on five of their last seven trips and the attacking line led by Eamonn Brophy could have trouble creating and converting chances once again here.
We will thus back Celtic to secure the points with confidence and we’ll go for a Home win to Nil at 8/11 with BetVictor, which feels like a great approach to the fixture seeing the Bhoys’ defensive performances at this ground recently.
While we hope to see a comfortable win, we don’t really see this as a one-sided clash in the making. We’re hoping Kilmarnock will not find themselves all over the place and we’ll now also stick our necks out for Under 2.5 Goals FT, which comes at 7/5 with BetVictor.
