Cardiff vs Middlesbrough Match Preview
Cardiff stretched their unbeaten league run to four as a 1-1 draw at Derby last time out was their third successive draw. They have had a mixed start to the season with two victories, three draws and two defeats from the opening seven.
At the Cardiff City Stadium, the Bluebirds have taken seven of their nine points with victories over Luton and Huddersfield and a draw with Fulham. All five goals the Welsh outfit have netted at home have come from a different player.
Middlesbrough stretched their unbeaten run to four with a 1-0 victory over Reading last time out though the expected goals data feels they were a little lucky to come out on top. After opening the season with an entertaining 3-3 draw the Teesiders have seen five of their next six go under 2.5 goals.
Away from the Riverside, Boro are winless in three with two of these finishing all-square (draws at Luton and Bristol City) and one in defeat (at Blackburn). Britt Assombalonga has netted twice in three appearances on the road this campaign.
The Welsh side are favourites to win this game and given both sides have almost identical records for the season it is hard to argue with home advantage. It is hard to argue with the prices on offer here so looking at the player markets looks the way forward. For the hosts, Robert Glatzel really caught the eye against Derby and he was unlucky not to add to his penalty goal and looks anytime goalscorer value here. For the visitors, Britt Assombalonga has two in three on the road and will like his chances to net against a Cardiff defence yet to keep a home clean sheet.
