Cardiff are in the ‘last chance saloon’ as far as staying in the Premier League is concerned and only a victory against Crystal Palace would have any chance of keeping them up.

For a few weeks now, the Bluebirds have been in a straight fight with Brighton to avoid joining Huddersfield and Fulham in going down to the Championship.

Neil Warnock’s side get first crack this weekend, with Brighton away to Arsenal on Sunday, and if they can beat Palace there must be a good chance they can take it to the final day.

How crucial, therefore, was Cardiff’s 2-0 win at Brighton recently? The problem, however, is that the Welsh club have won only two of their last 10 games, losing all of the others, so they simply have been unable to pick up the odd point here or there that could have been vital.

The other worry for Cardiff is that Palace’s away form is strong, having won five of their latest seven matches on the road in league and cup and enjoyed victories at Manchester City and Arsenal this term.

This has been a traumatic campaign for Cardiff overshadowed by the Emiliano Sala tragedy, but we will count on them at least doing what they need to do here and giving their fans one last day to savour in the Premier League even if the campaign ultimately ends in relegation.
