Canada vs Martinique Match Preview
Canada open the CONCACAF Gold Cup with a clash against Martinique, travelling to Rose Bowl in Pasadena as heavy favourites to bag the points and get off on the right foot – with a rather convincing five-match winning streak now behind them.
Canucks have beaten French Guyana (4-1) with goals from Junior Hoilett, Lucas Cavallini (2x), and Jonathan David, proving fine form in the final third once again. They will now surely be in a great mood and John Herdman should have no troubles lifting his men’s team spirits ahead of the trip to the United States.
Martinique have a four-match winning streak of their own behind them, though, and we’d expect they have plans of their own. They’ve beaten Puerto Rico (0-1), British Virgin Islands (4-0), Antigua and Barbuda (4-2) and most recently Guadeloupe (0-1), led by Kevin Parsemain but seeing goals coming from all directions really.
Les Matinino have had troubles on the road, though, and it has felt as if Mario Bocaly’s men were just unable to retain stability, despite a somewhat more lenient schedule. We now expect them to put on a challenge but Canada should have what it takes to overcome it.
We will thus stick with Canadians to secure the points but not without conceding, as we stick our necks out for them to win and a Yes on Both teams to score – which combines to an eye-catching 13/5 with Paddy Power.
We have seen Martinique scoring goals and this could be seen as further evidence for such a bet, as we now also go for a high-scoring clash with Over 2.5 Goals FT at 9/10 with bet365 – hoping to see an early opener and excitement galore in California.
