Canada vs Cuba Match Preview
Canada have seen a 3-1 loss to Mexico on Thursday and now have Martinique breathing down their necks as they meet Cuba on the final day of the group stage, looking for points against Group A outsiders to keep hold of a top 2 spot and make their way to the knockout stages.
Canucks had outclassed Martinique (4-0) beforehand as Jonathan David opened the scoresheet with a brace and Hoilett and Arfield added one each in the second half. The will now want to build on such a goalscoring performance and we hope to see them in great shape at Bank of America Stadium.
Cuba came into the competition looking to build on a solid streak mainly earned through a lenient schedule but failed to cope in Group A, as they saw a thrashing 7-0 loss to Mexico and a similarly comfortable loss to Martinique (0-3) despite a solid first half midway through the week.
Lions of the Caribbean have been scoring goals beforehand but struggled to create and convert chances in June, which does feel even more worrying for Raul Mederos – who hopes his men can bounce from a crisis which even saw Yasmani Lopez leave the side and at least go out with a bang.
We don’t feel they can and we’ll now back Canada to bag the points with confidence. However, we feel we’re now in for as many goals now and we’ll thus stick our necks out for Canada to win & Under 4.5 Goals FT at 13/10 with Coral – which does seem like value at this point.
19-year-old Jonathan David has been in great form with Gent late in the First Division A campaign and he’s built on the performances with a brace against Martinique, which now has us backing the youngster to open the scoresheet and score first at an enticing 21/10 with William Hill.
