Burton Albion took some time to get used to life back in League One after their relegation from the Championship last season. Although they were never likely to compete in the second tier for too long with their lower crowds and tight budget, they will have been hoping that boss Nigel Clough could be the man to take them back there this season and they’ve stuck with him despite not quite managing that level of success.

Although they come into this game on the back of a five game unbeaten streak, winning four of those games and the other producing a draw against title-chasing Sunderland, the Brewers may have left it slightly too late to make a late charge for the play-offs but they are at least looking to continue this good form and to finish the season on a high. Portsmouth are among the promotion chasers in the League One table at this time. In only their second season back at the third tier, Pompey have been battling for a top two spot alongside Luton Town, Barnsley, Sunderland and Charlton Athletic. As things stand, the Hampshire outfit are level on points with the Black Cats in 4th and 3rd place respectively, although both sides have a game in hand on the Tykes who sit in second.

After something of a slump saw them start to lose ground in the chase after the turn of the year, Kenny Jackett’s men are now back on the gas and in fine fettle, winning their last six consecutive games in all competitions including the Checkatrade Trophy Final against Sunderland at Wembley last month. After a 4-1 hammering of Rochdale last weekend they’ll feel they have the confidence to pick up three more points here at 7/5 with Bet365.
