Bristol Rovers vs Sunderland Match Preview
Sunderland have lost on their consistency lately and while they sit 5th placed as they take on Bristol Rovers on Tuesday evening, Phil Parkinson’s men only do so for their goal difference while Portsmouth, Fleetwood, and Wycombe all have a game in hand and breathe down their necks.
Black Cats saved a point with a last-gasp equalizer as they hosted Fleetwood in late February but were denied in a similar fashion by Gillingham (2-2) on Saturday, while seeing a 1-0 loss at Coventry along the way. They will now be desperate to rediscover defensive consistency and we do expect the visitors in a good mood.
Bristol saw a 3-0 loss at Stadium of Light in February and struggled to bounce from it, denied a top 6 chase in losses to Shrewsbury (0-1) and Southend (3-1) over the past two weeks. They have struggled for goalscoring consistency and this could be even more worrying for Ben Garner at this point.
Pirates failed to find the net in four of their last six outings at Memorial Stadium and this has been costly, as they drop down the League One table. They will need more if they’re now to capitalize on Sunderland’s woes of recent and we don’t see them making it – or ending a four-match losing streak in head-to-head clashes for that matter.
We will thus back Sunderland to snatch all three points at Memorial Stadium and we’ll go for an Away win at 5/6 with William Hill. We hope to see them solid at the back and turn a narrow contest their way as we’ve been used to earlier in 2020.
With that in mind, we’re also going for Under 2.5 Goals FT at 7/10 with bet365, which has been rated a generous banker bet by many in the know. Black Cats have based success on such defensive performances and we’re now hoping for more of the same.
