Bristol City vs Wolves Match Preview

Bristol City seem to be having the opposite kind of season to the last one. In 2017/2018, the Robins started the season in fantastic form before cup runs and play-off pushes eventually took their toll on a young and inexperienced squad and they fell away in the latter stages of the campaign. This time around they started very slowly but now appear to be building up a head of steam at the perfect time and making a charge for a top six finish in the Championship.

A run of 15 games without defeat and nine without failing to win ahead of this FA Cup tie has given the fans at Ashton Gate every belief that their team can achieve something special in the next few months of the campaign. Lee Johnson’s men have now risen to fifth place in the table, but it won’t be in his nature to allow that momentum to be lost in this FA Cup tie. The hosts will be out to advance to the Quarter Final stage with a win on Sunday at 18/5 with Unibet.

Wolverhampton Wanderers were the team to dominate the second tier last season in winning promotion from the Championship as deserved champions and they’ve taken to life at a higher level with a degree of ease too. With just 12 league games remaining of the Premier League campaign, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men currently occupy seventh place and they’ve troubled the big names this season too, beating the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur so far this term.

With the chances of breaking into the top six looking unlikely, the Portuguese boss and his side may do worse than to concentrate on a great opportunity to win the FA Cup with a route to the trophy having opened up with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool already being knocked out, the latter by Wolves in the Third Round. They needed a replay to overcome League One side Shrewsbury in Round Four, but Wolves are still favourite for the win here at 10/11 with BoyleSports.

We’re backing goals in this game. Wolves may have built their success on a strong backline in recent years, but they have kept only one clean sheet in their last six games and have scored in each and every one. Bristol City haven’t failed to score in any of their last 12 matches in all competitions though and are always a real attacking threat, so we’re backing both teams to find the net in this game at evens with William Hill.

One man who we have successfully backed to find the net many times over the last few years for the Men in Gold is Portuguese winger Diogo Jota. The 22 year old has gone from strength to strength since moving to Molineux in the summer of 2017 and he’s managed five Premier League goals so far this term so we’re backing him to have too much quality for the Championship defence and to get on the scoresheet at any time here at 2/1 with bet365.
