Bristol City vs Wigan Match Preview
Bristol City looked on course for all three points but a 93rd-minute goal saw Wigan claim a point in a 2-2 draw at the weekend. The draw along with a victory for Aston Villa means they are now fifth a point behind Villa and two above Derby. Both City and the Rams have a crucial game in hand over the other sides in the play-off battle.
At Ashton Gate, the Robins are four without a victory in the league and five if you include a FA Cup loss to Wolves. Each of the last two in the league at their place and four of the last six have seen both teams find the back of the net. In four of the last five fixtures at this ground the away side have netted the opening goal.
West Brom saw their three-game winning run come to an end at the weekend as they went down 2-0 away to Millwall. They sit in fourth place in the table and are seven points behind Sheffield United who occupy second and an automatic promotion spot. Four of the six remaining fixtures they have left are against teams in the hunt for a play-off spot.
Away from the Hawthorns, the Baggies have lost two of their last three but had won eight of the nine prior to that. When they failed to score on Saturday it was only the second time from their last 12 on the road they had failed to net. In five of their last nine on the road backing the Black Country outfit to be ahead at half-time and then again at full-time would have paid.
This looks a tough fixture to call with bookmakers making Bristol City marginal favourites due to their home advantage. It is a hard game to decide as both sides capable of impressive performances but throwing in the odd flat showing. Of the three-match options the draw would appeal most but we will look to other markets for the value.
Eight of the last 11 at Ashton Gate have seen exactly two or three goals scored so this looks the play in the total goals exact market. In four of the last five at this ground, the road side has netted the opener so Albion looks worth a play to bag first.
