Bristol City vs Reading Match Preview
Bristol City are most likely in a three team race (with Middlesbrough and Derby) for the remaining play-off spot. City will be looking to bounce back from a 2-1 loss at Villa last time out and they can have few complaints about the result as the Midlands outfit were dominant. They sit sixth on 65 points, Boro are seventh on 64 but have played a game more while Derby also have five to play and are on 63.
At Ashton Gate, the Robins are unbeaten in their last three but have also won just one of five. Each of the last three and five of the last six at their own place have seen both teams net. Every one of the last six matches here have seen at least one goal in the first-half.
A 2-1 home victory over Brentford at the weekend was vital for the survival hopes of Reading. Yakou Meite netted twice in the opening 15 minutes and they survived a late wave of Brentford pressure to claim a deserved victory. The result means they sit 19th and are four points above Rotherham with four matches to play.
Away from the Madejski Stadium, the Royals have won just one of their last seven but have lost just twice with four of them finishing all-square. Each of the last two on the road and three of the last four on the road have seen both teams find the back of the net. The Berkshire outfit have scored the opener in each of their last two and three of their last four on their travels.
The hosts are strong favourites to win the match and while they are the most likely to do so a record of just one home victory in the last five puts us off backing them. Reading picked up a recent point at Norwich so are capable on the road but we would not be backing them in the match markets.
We like a pro Royals bet so backing both teams to score makes sense as has happened in five of the last six at this ground and in three of the last four on the road for the visitors. We also like Yakou Meite to net at any time as he has four in his last four appearances.
