Bristol City vs Derby Match Preview
Bristol City had a disappointing Easter as they followed a 1-1 home draw to Reading with a 2-0 loss at Sheffield Wednesday. The result means they are down to eighth in the race for the fourth and final play-off slot. They are one behind their opponents Derby here and a victory would put their fate in their own hands.
At Ashton Gate, the Robins are unbeaten in their last four but have also won just one of the last six in the league. Each of the last four and six of the last seven at their own place have seen both teams net. Josh Brownhill has netted in each of his last two home appearances.
Derby had a decent Easter weekend as they drew 2-2 at Birmingham before coming out on top 2-0 at home to QPR. They are sixth and are ahead of Boro in seventh on goal-difference and Bristol City in eighth by one point. If they avoid defeat here then their promotion hopes will be in their own hands going into the midweek action.
Away from Pride Park, the Rams need to find some form having failed to win any of their last eight with four of these ending in defeat. Three of their last four on their travels have gone over 2.5 goals and produced a combined 16 goals. 12 of the last 16 netted on the road in their matches have come in the first-half.
It is hard to argue with the prices on offer here which make City marginal favourites by virtue of their home advantage. The league table shows that these two sides have little to choose between them so it looks a tough game to call.
We think goals could be tight here as Derby know a point will be enough for them while the Robins will be looking to force the match. This brings in two markets and we like the game to be level at half-time and the second 45 minutes to be the highest scoring.
