Bristol City vs Barnsley Match Preview
Bristol City will be looking to bounce back from FA Cup disappointment in midweek after going down 1-0 away to Shrewsbury. In the league, they made it two wins from their last three last weekend with a 2-0 win at Wigan .
At Ashton Gate, the Robins last played on New Years Day and it was not a great start to 2020 as they were hammered 4-0 by Brentford. It is three defeats from the last four in front of their own fans with the other a defeat of Luton.
Barnsley picked another important three points at the weekend with a 2-1 defeat of Huddersfield though the expected goals data suggests a draw would have been a fairer result. The Yorkshire outfit sit third bottom (22nd) and have just behind them a three-game winless run.
Away from Oakwell, the Tykes last played on January 2nd where they were a little unlucky to go down 2-1 away at Derby. They have managed just six points on the road this season though four of these have come from the last three games.
A few weeks ago getting Bristol City at these prices would have been seen as good value but such is the improvement in form shown under Gerhard Struber for the visitors that it is hard to argue with the prices on offer.
A better angle is to look at the goalscorer markets and one player for each side. For the hosts, take a look at Jamie Paterson who scored one and made on when coming off the bench in that league game against Wigan so is likely to start here. For the visitors, take a value play on Aapo Halme, the Finn is at the heart of many good things for the Tykes and should not be a double-figure quote.
