Bristol City v Swansea City Match Preview
Bristol City continue to progress under the guidance of Lee Johnson, the son of another former manager in Gary Johnson. The ex-Oldham and Barnsley boss seemed to have his team in a real battle for promotion last season before an EFL Cup Semi-Final run along with a congested league schedule took its toll on an inexperienced young squad. A lack of momentum seemed to be carried into this season as Johnson’s men struggled in the first few weeks of the campaign.
Form has improved dramatically in the last couple of months though and the Robins have risen up the table rapidly and now sit just one place and two points outside the play-off positions after not being beaten in their last 12 games in all competitions, winning their last six. With confidence clearly growing with each and every win they’ll be desperate to keep this winning run going and heap more pressure on the teams above them in the table with another three points here at 13/10 withBetway.
Swansea City will have been hoping to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking after their stay at the top table of English football came to an end last season. With Carlos Carvahal not given the opportunity to bring the team back up, the club turned towards Graham Potter following the fine job he had done in charge of Swedish club Ostersunds and so far, despite limited funds to alter the squad being afforded to him, the 43 year old has done a decent job.
Ahead of the midweek trip to Birmingham City in the Championship the Swans have gone six games unbeaten in all competitions and progressed through to the Fifth Round of the FA Cup over the weekend with a win over League One outfit Gillingham. In the league, this run leaves Potter’s side in 11th place in the table as things stand and he’ll be hoping to continue their unbeaten run by ending Bristol City’s own run here at odds of 5/2 with William Hill
With the home advantage, it’s the Robins whose unbeaten run we are backing to remain in tact here. Confidence is clearly flowing through this Bristol City outfit at the moment and we can see them having too much quality in this one. The Swans rarely fail to find the net though and have been in some strong form of their own of late, particularly in front of goal. As such, it makes sense to back the home win and both teams to score tip at 18/5 with Ladbrokes.
We successfully backed Swansea’s striker Oliver McBurnie to get on the scoresheet in that win over Gillingham last weekend and we’re backing him to the man on the scoresheet for the Welsh side in this game too. The 22 year old has now racked up 13 goals in all competitions this season, with five of those 13 coming in his last three outings. That’s why we’re backing the Scotsman for another goal at any time here at 39/13 with Unibet.
