Brighton vs Tottenham Predictions
Brighton could be in for a long season as they look set to be amongst the teams battling it out in a relegation dogfight this term. After getting off to the best possible start under their new manager with a 0-3 thumping away win over Watford on the opening day, Graham Potter’s side have now gone six league games without a victory and have been knocked out of the EFL Cup by Aston Villa in that time too.
Under Potter, the Seagulls are still looking for their first home victory too having picked up just two points from a possible nine in the league at the Amex Stadium so far this term and having lost that cup fixture against the Villains in front of their own supporters. Given how poor their opponents’ form has been of late, they may sense a chance to cause a mini-upset here at odds of 3/1 with William Hill.
Tottenham Hotspur’s ambitions to win trophies this term after losing out in the Champions League final last term are starting to look less and less likely to be fulfilled this term. The Lilywhites have picked up just three wins from their first ten competitive matches of the campaign, losing in the EFL Cup to Colchester United, in the Premier League to lowly Newcastle United and in the Champions League to Bayern Munich in midweek.
The nature of that 2-7 home defeat to die Roten has led to further questions being asked of Mauricio Pochettino and his future at the club, but after a battling performance saw them win out 2-1 over Southampton last weekend despite playing the majority of the match with just 10 men. Another performance like that and they should pick up the three points at the Amex Stadium at evens with Unibet.
We’re backing a low-scoring affair this time around though, despite that goal fest for Spurs in midweek. Pochettino may shake things up defensively and his backline will take on a Brighton outfit that have managed just one goal in their last five matches in all competitions, but Spurs themselves won’t be expected to rack up the goals given the way they’ve played of late. Under 2.5 goals is reasonable value at 11/10 with Betfair.
We’re backing the visitors to pick up the victory here though and the main reason for that is Brighton’s profligacy in front of goal with just one strike in their last five games. Tottenham have by no means been at their best of late but they should have enough individual quality to see out a win to nil in this one at odds of 27/10 with BetVictor.
