Brentford vs Stoke Match Preview
Stoke have finally ended a streak of four losses on the road as they beat Huddersfield (2-5) on New Year’s Day as Nick Powell, Tyrese Campbell (x2), and Lee Gregory all found the net after falling behind early in the second half. They escaped dropping into the relegation zone once again and will now hope to build on such a performance at Griffin Park as well.
Potters have struggled for consistency and while they’ve been tough to beat in front of the home fans, but the lack of away points will be very worrying – as they fell victims to Cardiff (1-0), Hull (2-1), Middlesbrough (2-1), and Fulham (1-0) since late November. They’ll now be in for another tough task and it’s questionable if Michael O’Neill’s men can rise to the challenge.
Brentford come into the match after bouncing to the winning ways with a convincing win at Bristol City (0-4) where Brian Mbeumo and Said Benrahma found the net early on and Ollie Watkins added a brace late on. They have been confident at Griffin Park and will now have high hopes they can make it to the 4th Round.
Bees beat Reading (1-0), Luton (7-0), Cardiff (2-1), Fulham (1-0), and Swansea (3-1) here since late November and conceded just two goals along the way. Thomas Frank has had Watkins and Mbeumo leading the attacking line and they’ve been delivering big time, which has us hoping for more of the same.
We will thus back Brentford to their sixth home win in a row, which comes at 8/11 with William Hill and looks like great value despite the high stakes involved. They’ve been tough to deal with here and we now hope they can show it once again.
However, we don’t expect Stoke to come as sitting ducks and we feel they might just need the in-form attacking line once again, as we hope they can outgun the visitors in a high-scoring occasion and go for Over 2.5 Goals FT at 3/4 with BetVictor.
