Brentford vs Preston Match Preview
Brentford had a week off last time out as they were scheduled to face Bolton but the fixture was cancelled as Wanderers players refused to play over not being paid. It leaves the London side in 15th place on 58 points. It has been a disappointing campaign for them first getting off to a slow start, then losing manager Dean Smith before embarking on a losing run under Thomas Frank though they are showing signs of promise to end the campaign.
At Griffin Park, the Bees have won their last two which includes a 2-0 defeat of Leeds when they last played which was perhaps their best performance of the season. Each of the last two and three of the last five visitors here have failed to net. Neal Maupay has netted in each of his last three and seven of his last eight home starts.
Preston seemed to be coasting to victory last time out as they were leading Sheff Wednesday 3-1 with 28 minutes remaining but ended up having to settle for a 3-3 draw. The result means North-End have now won one just one of their last seven. It has been a solid if an unspectacular season for them as they sit 12th going into their final match of the campaign.
Away from Deepdale, the Lilywhites have lost their last three and have conceded a combined eight goals from these. Three of their last five and five of their last seven on the road have seen both teams net. Jayden Stockley has netted in two of his last four appearances away from home.
Bookmakers make the home side favourites for the game and given their strong form at this ground it is hard to argue with that. The price on offer does not scream a must bet to us but we could not put anyone off backing them.
A better value call is to take the home victory and both teams to score as North-End bagged three at the weekend while Brentford have seven from their last three appearances here. Both teams to score is also an option though for greater value try a little play on both teams to score in the first-half.
