Brazil vs South Korea Match Preview
Brazil’s form in friendly matches since they won the Copa America in the summer has been surprisingly weak – and they now face a South Korea team who are very difficult to beat.
There is a stark contrast between Brazil’s results before and after they triumphed in the South American championship. Previously rock-solid, it’s as though they have taken their eye off the ball with three draws and two defeats since they beat Peru in the final in Rio de Janeiro.
Continuing their Global Tour, Tite’s side were held 1-1 by both Nigeria and Senegal in Singapore last month, failed to beat Colombia or Peru (lost 1-0) in the USA in September and, most recently, were beaten 1-0 by Argentina in Saudi Arabia on Friday.
But it could be time for Brazil to start stepping it up again as they face a South Korea team who will have unhappy memories of their last visit to Abu Dhabi in January – at a different stadium in this city they lost 1-0 to eventual champions Qatar in the Asian Cup quarter-finals.
South Korea have been very strong defensively since they knocked Germany out of the 2018 World Cup in the group stage and went home at the same time themselves, keeping four consecutive clean sheets in their recent qualifying games for the next World Cup.
The problem for Paulo Bento’s side, however, is that the goals have dried up for they were held 0-0 by North Korea and Lebanon in their last two matches and therefore it is hard to see them breaking down Brazil, who are backed to return to winning ways.
