Bradford City vs Liverpool Match Preview
Liverpool continue their typically busy pre-season campaign with a trip to Bradford, having got their preparations under way with a resounding 6-0 triumph at Tranmere.
Manager Jurgen Klopp always likes to get his squad up and at it early with a couple of games against domestic opposition and, after beating their neighbours from the Wirral, the European champions are crossing the Pennines to visit Valley Parade on Sunday.
Then comes a series of tests against much stronger sides from around Europe, namely Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Sporting Lisbon, Napoli and Lyon, with the Reds visiting the United States, Edinburgh and Geneva before they face Manchester City in the FA Community Shield and kick off the new Premier League season at home to Norwich.
Among the Liverpool players in action at Tranmere were goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana, James Milner, Joe Gomez, Fabinho, Joel Matip and Divock Origi who, along with Nathaniel Clyne and exciting youngster Rhian Brewster among others, got on the scoresheet.
Bradford, meanwhile, were relegated to League Two last season but have been installed as favourites to go straight back up with manager Gary Bowyer, who could do nothing to reverse the slide after his appointment in early March, aiming to build on the fine job he did in difficult circumstances at Blackpool.
The Bantams will be buzzing about this prospect of a rare test against the winners of the Champions League and are backed to fare considerably better than Tranmere did.
