Bournemouth vs Tottenham Match Preview
AFC Bournemouth have done their usual trick of slipping down the table somewhat in the second half of the Premier League season. Eddie Howe’s men started the campaign in terrific form and even sat in a top six place for quite some time, but perhaps a lack of squad depth has held them back as they looked to remain in the top half and as a result they’ve slipped down to 14th in the table but with no danger of slipping into the relegation dogfight at this stage.
With the season perhaps over a few weeks ago it’s hardly surprising that the Cherries have taken their foot off the gas somewhat in recent weeks. The South Coast club come into this match having won only one of their last six games, although that was a 0-5 away thumping of Brighton & Hove Albion. Having never beaten Spurs in a league game before can Bournemouth earn an historic victory in this game at 29/10 with William Hill.
Tottenham Hotspur are one of the four teams battling it out for two remaining spots in next year’s Champions League. As things stand, the Lilywhites are in pole position as they sit in third place with a four point gap over fifth-placed Arsenal going into these final two games but they may have one eye on the second leg of their Champions League semi-final after a home defeat to Ajax in the first leg on Tuesday evening.
That defeat by the Dutch giants will be particularly worrying for boss Mauricio Pochettino given that it was his side’s fourth defeat in their last five matches in all competitions and with key players like Harry Kane and Harry Winks out on the sidelines he will be keen to ensure they pick up three points here and can turn their full attention to the trip to Amsterdam on Wednesday night. You can back the away win at 10/11 with Bet365.
We do think Spurs will win this game, because Bournemouth have not been at their best of late and indeed the North Londoners do have a very strong record in this fixture having won six and drawn one of their previous seven Premier League meetings with the Cherries. Tottenham haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last six Premier League away games though and in players like Josh King and Ryan Fraser the hosts will carry a goal threat so we’re backing the away win and both teams to score at 9/4 with Bet365.
Son Heung-Min has enjoyed one of his best seasons in a Tottenham shirt and with Harry Kane out injured he will be the key goal threat for the visitors in this game. Having missed out on the first-leg of their Champions League semi-final against Ajax due to suspension, the South Korea international should be fit and fresh for this game and looking to add to his tally of 20 goals in all competitions with another here at PaddyPower.
