Bournemouth vs Manchester City Match Preview

AFC Bournemouth continue to establish themselves as part of the furniture in the Premier League. The Cherries were not expected to remain in the top tier of English football for long, but this is their fourth campaign at the top table and they look as comfortable as ever in the safety of midtable. With just 10 games remaining, the Dorset outfit sit in 10th place, easily clear of the relegation zone and looking to chase down the likes of West Ham and Wolves above them.

After a blistering start to the campaign, Eddie Howe’s charges have not been quite so relentless in the second half of the season. Wins over West Ham and Chelsea at the end of January were Bournemouth’s only two victories in their last ten matches in all competitions and they come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers and defeats away to Liverpool and Cardiff City. Can they shock the odds with their first ever win over Manchester City here at 11/1 with William Hill.

Manchester City are still on for an unprecedented Quadruple this season after securing the Carabao Cup last weekend. A penalty shoot-out was required for the Citizens to overcome Chelsea at Wembley but they came through to lift the trophy and they’re through to the Quarter Final stage of the FA Cup, Round of 16 stage in the Champions League and are chasing down a Liverpool side who come into this week’s fixtures with a narrow one point lead on the top of the table.

Pep Guardiola and his side suffered something of a hiccup in December when they were beaten by Crystal Palace and Leicester City in a matter of days, but since then they have responded well to win 14 of their last 15 games in all competitions and pile pressure back onto the Reds at the top of the tree. The Blues have never lost in 13 previous meetings with Bournemouth, winning 11, we’re backing them to make it 12 here at 19/4 with Bet365.

We’re backing a comfortable win for the Citizens here. Although Bournemouth have caused problems to some of the bigger sides in the Premier League since their promotion into it back in 2014, they’ve never really caused too many problems to the Citizens and in their seven meetings at this level, the Blues have won all seven times and by more than one goal on six occasions. The likes of Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva will ensure they do so again here at 4/6 with Bet365.

Aguero may be leading the scoring charts for the Citizens so far this season but in second place once again is Raheem Sterling. The former Liverpool man has been a key component of Pep Guardiola’s plans at the Etihad Stadium and has racked up 12 goals in 24 league outings so far this term in addition to the 18 he managed in the last campaign. He’s our first goalscorer tip in this one at 5/1 with PaddyPower.
