Bournemouth vs Luton Town Match Preview
Both of these clubs are in big need of an FA Cup confidence boost – and we think it will be Bournemouth who get the shot in the arm required.
The first half of 2020 threatens a relegation battle for Bournemouth and Luton, with each team struggling and having won only one of their last eight matches – indeed, make that 10 as far as Saturday’s hosts are concerned.
Bournemouth have fallen into the Premier League drop zone, producing the first real crisis since they were promoted in 2015, and although they have been badly hit by injuries, manager Eddie Howe has still been able to field line-ups seemingly capable of achieving better results than they have.
You suspect the Cherries could really use an uplifting success here ahead of a favourable run of fixtures through to the third week of February that could easily define whether they remain in the top flight for a sixth consecutive campaign.
For Luton, the situation looks more dire. They are bottom of the Championship table, have collected only one point from the last 18 available to them and it could be that manager Graeme Jones’ lack of experience as a No 1 as opposed to being an assistant is counting against the Hatters.
An FA Cup run will not be the top priority for either of these clubs, but this tie looks a good opportunity for Bournemouth to renew their self-belief and they are backed to edge through.
