Bournemouth have followed their usual blueprint in the Premier League this season. As one of the smaller clubs at the top level historically they are always swimming against the tide somewhat but once again this season the Dorset outfit have begun the campaign in terrific form as even looked like a potential Europa League challenger for some time but have slowed up in the second half of the season and slipped down the table.

As a result it’s hardly surprising to read how poor Bournemouth’s recent run of form has been. The Cherries have won just one of their last eight matches in the Premier League against a Huddersfield outfit that have since been relegated and look set to finish bottom of the table. With confidence pretty low, boss Eddie Howe will be keen to give it a boost with a win over his former club here at odds of 21/20 with William Hill.

Burnley have struggled to live up to the heights they achieved last season. The Clarets made a long-awaited return to the top table of European football by securing a 7th placed finish last season and many feared that they would struggle to cope with the demands of the Europa League alongside the Premier League. As it has turned out, the Lancastrians were knocked out in the play-offs but have still floundered towards the bottom of the table this year.

A run of four consecutive defeats appeared to have Sean Dyche’s men staring down the barrel last week, but a vital home victory over high-flying Wolves, followed up by Cardiff City’s home defeat to Chelsea on the Sunday afternoon, leaves them five points clear of the bottom three as things stand. Three points here would do them no harm in the fight to steer clear of the drop zone though at odds of 5/2 with PaddyPower.

We’re backing the visitors to get something from this game. Bournemouth look vulnerable at the moment and they have failed to win their last three home matches at the Vitality Stadium. It’s fair to say that Burnley had the better of the Cherries in the reverse fixture too as they hammered their opponents 4-0 at Turf Moor back in September. We think there’s value in backing them to get at least a draw again here at 4/5 with Bet365.

It could be a low-scoring clash this one. Bournemouth are usually one of the better bets for both teams to score in the Premier League but recently they’ve been struggling in front of goal somewhat and indeed three of their last four matches have seen under 2.5 goals scored. Under Dyche, Burnley have always prided themselves on being difficult to break down so under 2.5 goals at 19/20 looks like a good price at PaddyPower.
