Botafogo vs Vasco da Gama Match Preview
Botafogo outclassed Sol de America in the second leg of their Copa Sudamericana clash on Thursday with Cicero, Luiz Fernando, Bochecha, and Diego Souza all finding the net and now host Vasco da Gama for their Matchday 7 clash in a great mood and looking to build on the performance.
Fogao have struggled for consistency and have nine points to their name after six outings but they’ve been a lot tougher to beat at Estadio Nilton Santos, which should have them just as motivated to secure the points now. They’ve bagged points against Bahia (3-2) and Fortaleza (1-0) before seeing the streak here ended by Palmeiras (0-1) in late May.
Vasco have seen similar woes and while they’ve held off Avai (1-1) and Fortaleza (1-1) in their last two outings, this hardly feels like a great boost to their confidence. They’ve seen four consecutive losses on the road before the trip to Estadio Governador Placido Aderaldo Castelo, which will feel just as worrying.
Gigante da Colina struggled to keep it together at the back and we don’t feel they’ll be able to retain any consistency now, as we head into another exciting contest in Rio de Janeiro. We’ve seen goals on both ends in six of the last seven head-to-head clashes, which adds to such a belief.
We will now back Botafogo to secure all three points and capitalize on Vasco’s woes early in the new campaign, where a Home win looks great value at 23/20 with William Hill – especially after seeing Fogao’s mid-week win.
We hope to see goals again and with that in mind, we’re now also backing Over 2.5 Goals FT at 5/4 with Paddy Power. We haven’t really seen many such clashes on either end lately but this serves as a solid approach for those keeping the faith we’ll see a winner here.
