Botafogo vs Palmeiras Match Preview
Botafogo host Serie A pace-setters Palmeiras for their Matchday 6 clash on Saturday, looking to build on rock-solid home records and the Copa Sudamericana success with a mid-week win at Sol de America. They sit four points behind the rivals and will now be desperate to catch up, promising a strong challenge.
Indeed, Fogao have bagged five wins and a draw in six outings across competitions at Estadio Nilton Santos, proving themselves a very tough nut to crack since late February. Eduardo Barroca had seen his men scoring numbers of goals on the regular and will want more of the same here.
Palmeiras have plans of their own and great records of their own, as they top the league table with 13 points to their name and come into the match on the back of a five-match winning streak. They’ve been rock-solid at the back and will now hope for an upset here based on such an approach.
Verdao have beaten Internacional (1-0), Atletico Mineiro (0-2), and Santos (4-0) in Serie A since early May and built on the success with Copa Libertadores win over San Lorenzo (1-09 as well as Copa do Brazil win over Sampaio Correa (0-1) most recently.
We thus expect them very motivated to keep it up but we also feel Botafogo will be able to prove their worth once again here, as we now stick our necks out for Botafogo to win or Draw at 13/8 with bet365.
We have seen them scoring goals on the regular and they’ll have to overcome Palmeiras’ defence to do so, which now also has us going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 11/8 with William Hill. The visitors have been tough at the back but we don’t see them holding out in Rio de Janeiro.
