Boston vs Rochdale Predictions
Boston are enjoying a fine final season at York Street. With a new community stadium on the horizon in the summer, the supporters are hoping for a final campaign to remember at their traditional old ground and that could very much be a possibility. As things stand, the Pilgrims find themselves in the play-off positions of the National League North with games on hand on many of the teams above them.
This is likely to be one of the final sold-out games at the ground as the fans look to inspire their team to a win over a side from three divisions above and win a huge David vs Goliath clash against Premier League outfit Newcastle United. After an encouraging display in the first clash over in Greater Manchester, can Craig Elliott’s men now spring a shock in front of the TV cameras at 13/5 with William Hill.
Rochdale have had some luck in this competition in recent years, having beaten the likes of Nottingham Forest and Leeds United whilst also earning a draw with Tottenham Hotspur at their Crown Oil Arena ground a couple of seasons ago. This time around, they’ve needed a replay versus National National side Wrexham to make it through the first round and will now need a replay against National League North opposition to reach Round Three.
In the league, the Dale have lacked consistency and have particularly struggled of late, enduring a five game losing streak in League One before Saturday’s surprise victory away from home against Rotherham United. With the situations at the likes of Bury and Bolton likely to keep Brian Barry-Murphy’s side’s heads above water this season how much will the Irishman value the win here at 6/5 with Unibet to continue his side’s cup run?
We’re backing another low-scoring game here after the 0-0 draw at Spotland two weeks ago. The Pilgrims set-up excellently defensively and didn’t allow Rochdale the chances they needed to get the winner they craved and we can see the game following a similar pattern here. Five of Dale’s last eight games have seen under 2.5 goals scored and we’re anticipating the same outcome again here at odds of 10/11 with Unibet.
After they managed to battle through for a goalless draw away from home we give Boston every chance of picking up a result here. The Pilgrims have been excellent in front of their own supporters this season, going ten competitive home matches unbeaten, whereas Rochdale have been struggling for form and have endured some pretty tough results of late. We’re backing the hosts to win or a draw on the double chance market at 8/11 with Ladbrokes.
