Borussia Monchengladbach need to hope their head-to-head dominance over Werder Bremen enables them to overturn recent form and gain a win that boosts their Champions League qualification hopes.

Gladbach, who this week announced their coach Dieter Hecking would be leaving in the summer, set to be replaced by Red Bull Salzburg’s Marco Rose, have fallen out of the all-important top four after a run of only one win in their last seven games.

In contrast, Werder are unbeaten in 2019 and have won their latest four matches, including the DFB-Pokal quarter-final against Schalke, putting them sixth in the table just five points behind Gladbach.

That means Werder will certainly have plenty of backers here, but their record at Borussia-Park has been poor since their most recent Bundesliga victory at this ground in 2010.
