Boreham Wood vs Arsenal Match Preview
Arsenal take on a short trip to Meadow Park on Saturday afternoon as they kick off their pre-season campaign, taking on National League rivals Boreham Wood in what’s become a traditional warm-up for their trip to the United States – where they’re to meet Bayern Munich, Fiorentina, and Real Madrid.
Gunners will miss most of their first-team setup as they’re yet to return from the short summer holidays, which has Unai Emery making a selection mainly consisting of U23 players – again largely depending on them taking part in the UEFA U21 Championship. Without a star-studded, though, we could see them even more motivated to impress in Borehamwood.
Boreham Wood also open their pre-season here and the clash is to be followed with a series of games against sides from lower divisions, which has few hoping for a great start and Luke Garrard will surely rather hope to pick it up through July and early August than get anything from this fixture.
Wood have been regularly scoring goals here and will now hope to make more of an impact after two very comfortable losses in the sides’ last two head-to-head clashes, having had a longer break and obviously coming with more first-team players in the plans. Still, it’s obvious they have no great depth in quality and it’s still hard to see them coping.
We will thus stick our necks out for Arsenal to bag a comfortable win as we go for Asian Handicap – Arsenal to win 3.5, which goes to point towards the three divisions between the sides and obvious quality and ambition that goes with it despite a more exciting contest between the sides we’re hoping for this time around.
With the Gunners forced to take from their U23 and U18 sides early on, we feel this could compromise the defensive stability and we thus hope Boreham will be able to make an impact here as well – as we also go for a Yes on Both teams to score.
