Bordeaux vs Montpellier Match Preview
Bordeaux host Montpellier for their Matchday 27 clash on Friday evening looking to bounce back from another underwhelming display on the road and a 1-0 loss at Nantes last week, which sees them trailing huge 11 points behind the Ligue 1 top 4 and desperate for points to build on their mid-table spot.
Girondins have thus suffered their fifth consecutive loss away from home but we have seen a more challenging outfit at Stade Matmut-Atlantique through most part of the campaign, which should still have them very motivated – in search of their fourth win in five outings here. They’ve beaten Le Havre (1-0), Dijon (1-0), Toulouse (2-1), and held Guingamp to a goalless draw since early January and we now hope for another tough defensive setup from Eric Bedouet.
Montpellier will be no sitting ducks, though, and should prove a tough nut to crack despite a disappointing streak of their own recently. They’ve seen losses to PSG (5-1) and Reims (2-4) with a high total of nine goals conceded along the way and Michel Der Zakarian will be desperate to find a quick fix ahead of a 500 km trip to the western coast.
La Paillade’s loss in Paris only ended a streak of four consecutive draws on the road, though, after holding out at Dijon (1-1), Rennes (0-0), Nimes (1-1), and Lille (0-0). They’ve been no strangers to upsets in Bordeaux either but getting a result now feels like a great task.
We will thus stick our necks out for Bordeaux to show off their character in front of the home fans once again and bag all three points on Friday, going for a Home win at an enticing 29/20 with William Hill – which feels like value at this point.
However, we expect a strong defensive challenge from Montpellier this time around and we consequently hope for few goals. We’ve seen support from many big hitters as we now also back Under 2.5 Goals FT at 1/2 with bet365, rated buying money by many in the know.
