Bolton Wanderers vs Reading Match Preview
Two clubs that could be heading for League One meet in Lancashire and are in such poor form that neither can be trusted with our cold, hard cash to deliver a victory.
Bolton are in desperate straits off the pitch as well as on it, with their fans staging protests about the club’s financial plight which they blame squarely upon owner Ken Anderson.
The Trotters have won only once in the Championship since September, although the fact it was against another relegation-threatened team, Rotherham, on Boxing Day should give them some hope for Reading’s visit.
At least Reading won their last-but-one game, 2-0 at home to play-off hopefuls Nottingham Forest, but their away form has been pretty terrible for well over 12 months now.
In fairness, the Royals showed plenty of spirit when they lost 2-0 to a second-string Manchester United side in the FA Cup, but they are struggling badly to score goals on the road under their new Portuguese manager Jose Gomes.
If one of these sides can claim three points here, it would boost considerably their chances of finishing above the other and also Rotherham in the quest to remain in the Championship.
But both are difficult to fancy due to how rarely they win matches and so a low-scoring draw is our idea of the likely outcome.
