Bolton vs Sunderland Match Preview
Sunderland took an early lead over Rotherham United but failed to really capitalize on it, seeing the rivals level it in the second half and snatch an important point at Stadium of Light on Tuesday. They now travel to Bolton hoping to capitalize on the rivals’ woes and return to the winning ways with an upset at University of Bolton Stadium.
Black Cats have been in a better place so it’s hard to really call it an upset, seeing them bag four wins on five trips across competitions and only suffer a 3-0 loss at Peterborough along the way. They’ve been scoring numbers of goals too and Jack Ross should be able to lift their team spirits once again.
Bolton come into the match on the back of a goalless draw against Oxford United, where they finally looked stable at the back and get something to build on – despite a -10 point tally after seven games played. They’ve struggled to score goals and this was only their second point won, with five losses also on the records.
Wanderers have League Cup and EFL Trophy troubles along the way and we feel Keith Hill will need a wonder to save them from relegation this term. They’ve been tougher to beat at this ground but still have little to show for such efforts, which has us keeping faith Sunderland will be able to capitalize as well.
We will thus stick with the visitors to snatch all three points and do so in another narrow occasion in Bolton, as we go for Sunderland to win to Nil at 8/5 with bet365 – which seems like a great approach to the fixture as Wanderers struggle to find the net and did so just twice in nine outings.
We don’t really feel we’re in for a very one-sided contest, though, and we do expect Bolton to give the rivals a run for their money. With hopes we’re not in for goals on both ends, we’re thus also backing Under 2.5 Goals FT at 7/5 with Paddy Power.
