Bolton vs Ipswich Match Preview
Bolton picked up a vital three points last weekend as they won 2-1 at Loftus Road against QPR and kept alive their survival hopes. They are still second bottom but the gap between them and Millwall in 21stis now just five points. Wanderers though are a mess of the pitch and are forced to play this game behind closed doors while for fans it is a day-to-day worry if the club will still exist due to financial woes.
At the University of Bolton Stadium, the Trotters have taken just four points from their last six matches but these points came against bottom-half sides. In fact, they are unbeaten in their last five at their place against bottom ten sides. Three of the last four here have gone over 2.5 goals while each of the last six has gone over 1.5.
Ipswich lost 2-0 at Hull at the weekend and it is just a matter of when and not if for the Suffolk side to be relegated. They are 13 points from safety with a maximum of 21 available to them from seven remaining games. It is 12 without a victory for Town though they have lost just two of the last eight.
Away from Portman Road, The Tractor Boys have drawn each of their last three 1-1 which includes decent points at West Brom and Bristol City. They are though without a road success since the 6th October and that was the only this season. The 12 road goals they have netted on the road is the lowest of any side in the division.
One local journalist in midweek described this as ‘the saddest game he is ever likely to attend’ as you have a road team destined for the drop playing behind close doors to a home side in massive debt. This is a tough game to call and as such the full-time results market look worth avoiding.
A better bet is taking both teams to score as Wanderers have to try win this game while Town have netted in each of their last three on the road so this looks worth a play. I also like the look of over 2.5 goals as this has happened in three of the last four at this ground.
