Bolton vs Coventry Match Preview
Just a single goal from Zain Westbrooke early in the second half proved enough for Coventry to bag all three points as they host Southend on the opening day of the campaign, now travelling to Bolton with three points to their name and surely hoping to build on the performance with the rivals’ obvious woes.
Sky Blues have been solid through their pre-season too and this means they extend a five-match unbeaten streak, where they retained consistency in the final third and have a lot to build on. Mark Robins’ men fell just short of a promotion play-off spot last term and building on the challenge now will be crucial.
Bolton have, on the other hand, gone into administration back in May after already seeing relegation and now kick off the new campaign with a 12-point minus. While they’ve seen an exodus of players over the summer and Phil Parkinson was forced to field six debutants on their trip to Wycombe (2-0), there’s more to worry about.
Wanderers have seen both Connor Hall and Josh Earl sidelined with injuries and out for what’s expected a months-long recovery period, which will add even more weight to their late-Summer business. They now don’t seem to have what it takes to cope and making chances should prove a tough task on the day as well.
We will thus stick with Coventry to turn a narrow clash their way and we’ll now go for an Away win and Under 2.5 Goals FT, which combines to 16/5 with Paddy Power and has caught the eye of many in the know already.
Indeed, Bolton have struggled to make an impact with a rotated side made out mostly of their youth and with that in mind, we don’t see them making it now either. We’ll thus also back Coventry to keep a clean sheet in a bet that comes at 5/4 with 22bet.
