Napoli lost their form at the wrong time this season to properly challenge for any trophies, but they are finishing off strongly and backed to end the campaign with five straight wins.

It was at the end of January when things started to turn sour for Carlo Ancelotti’s side as they exited the Coppa Italia, dropped off Juventus’ relentless pace in Serie A and then lost both legs to nil as they tumbled out of the Europa League quarter-finals against Arsenal.

But there is at least some encouragement for next term – especially with Juventus changing their manager, which adds a variable into the equation – in that Napoli have won their last four matches after rediscovering their goalscoring threat, not least through Dries Mertens.

A 4-1 triumph at home to Inter Milan last weekend was impressive, Mertens on the scoresheet, and the stats above reveal just how potent the Belgian forward has been against Bologna in the last few years.

This season’s finale will not be easy away to a Bologna side who have improved dramatically since Sinisa Mihajlovic took over as their manager at the end of January, winning seven of their last 11 games to climb well away from relegation trouble.

However, Napoli are easily the second best team in Italy and given their uplifting end to 2018-19, they look a good bet to extend their sequence of victories into the summer break.
