Blackpool vs Portsmouth Match Preview
Portsmouth travel to Blackpool for their Matchday 6 clash on Saturday afternoon, just days after their League Cup win over Queens Park Rangers (0-2) where late goals from John Marquis and Marcus Harness marked a return to the winning ways after a two-match winless streak in League One.
Pompey have seen a narrow 2-1 loss at Sunderland and shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller against Coventry (3-3) in front of the home fans, taking the lead on both occasions as Marquis, Harness, and Curtis led the in-form attacking line but dropped it with slip-ups at the back.
Their defensive inconsistency could be worrying despite an upset in London days ago and in-form Blackpool will want to capitalize on it, looking to build on their very solid streak early in the new campaign. They’ve bagged 11 points in five outings and sit behind pace-setters Ipswich only for their goal difference, which should have Simon Grayson’s men in a great mood.
Seasiders beat Oxford (2-1) midway through August and built on the success with two points on two trips last week, snatching draws at both Gillingham (2-2) and Rochdale (0-0). They’ve seen goals coming from all directions and we feel the home side will prove very tough to outgun now as well.
We will thus stick our necks out for Blackpool to bag their first home win over Portsmouth in three years, as we go for a Home win at an eye-catching 21/10 with Coral and hope they can build on a great momentum we’ve seen so far.
We do expect goals and they’ll have to impress in the final third if they’re to make it happen we feel, as we also go for a high-scoring contest and Over 2.5 Goals FT at 21/20 with Ladbrokes. We have seen both sides scoring and conceding many lately, which does feel like further evidence for such a bet.
