Blackburn continued their recent poor form with their sixth defeat in their last seven going down 1-0 at home to Preston at the weekend. The Lancashire outfit could do with a few more victories to really be certain of their place in the Championship next season.

At Ewood Park, Rovers have lost each of their last three in the league and all by the same 1-0 scoreline. None of the last five and just one of the last seven here have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Wigan seemed on course for a much needed three points last time as they led 2-1 at Reading going into the 89th minute but they conceded twice to lose 3-2. They find themselves just three points above Rotherham who are in 22nd.

Away from the DW Stadium, the Latics have lost four of their last five and are without a victory since August 22nd. Their last four on their travels have seen both teams find the back of the net.

The home side are the favourites for this game and given the poor road of Wigan it is hard to argue with that. That being said that is not a price I can take as Blackburn have lost six of their last seven.

The best way to get involved in this tricky looking fixture is to find the value in the player markets and look at a couple of anytime goalscorer bets. Nick Powell is back for the Latics and he is a key player and he scored and made one at the weekend and gets the nod here. For Rovers it is interesting to note that they were playing a three at the back at the weekend and the wing-backs Elliott Bennett and Harrison Reed both are given licence to get forward. Reed showed on loan at Norwich last season he has a good eye for goal and I like him to net in this fixture.
